Stanford Softball Schedule 2023 – The time every Florida State softball fan has been waiting for is here. FSU announced the schedule for the 2023 softball season on Tuesday. Head coach Lonnie Alameda also got a lot of talent from the transfer portal and a group of experienced freshmen returning a large group of talented players.
Kicking off the season, the Noles will host the JoAnne Graf Classic in Tallahassee from February 9-11. Opponents will be Lipscomb, Longwood and Purdue.

The former Soviet Union will host FAMU before heading to the Clearwater Invitational. Clearwater could face multiple teams from Feb. 16-19, with dates, times and matchups still to be determined. But the field includes Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Duke, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi State, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, UCF, UCLA, USF and Virginia Tech.

After Clearwater, the Noles return home to face North Florida in midweek on Feb. 22. They will stay at home 23-25 to host the undefeated invite with FGCU, Lamar and Troy.
The spring break trip will be a tough one as they travel to Oklahoma on March 10-14 to face the defending national champions in Oklahoma State, Louisiana and the Oklahoma Sooners.
ACC play begins with Syracuse visiting Tallahassee March 17-19, followed by a first-round trip to Durham to face Duke March 24-26. Georgia Tech ends March at home April 31-2.

In keeping with the theme of the first visit between two ACC schools, the former Soviet Union will see Clemson at home for the first time on April 6-8.
Midweek against Jacksonville on April 12th before the Hoos travel to the Florida capital from Virginia for a 2-4. Another week at Stetson highlights a road trip before taking on 21-23 Virginia Tech.
The Noles will face the Florida Gators at home April 26 and at Gainesville May 3, along with a trip to Notre Dame April 28-30. Finally, they will host Louisville to end the regular season May 5-7.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State softball head coach Lonnie Alameda has announced his schedule for the 2023 season. This season marks Florida State’s 40th season as a rushing touchdown. The Seminoles will play 54 regular season games, 30 of which will be played at Joan Graf Field at the Seminole Softball Complex. In all, Florida State plays against 13 teams that made the NCAA Tournament a season ago and five teams that made the 2022 Women’s College World Series. The Pac-12 season begins now. It’s time to play softball for No. 7 Stanford Softball (22-2, 0-0 Pac-12). What have we seen so far in the preseason? What can we expect in the future?
With such a strong lineup, the Cardinals seemed poised to break many records in 2023. After all, they’ve improved every year since Jessica Allister ’04 took over as head coach, going 24-31 in 2018, 3-21 Pac-12 to 33-20, 8-13 Pac-12 in 2019 and 33 – 22 in 2021, 9-12 Pac-12. Last year’s 39 overall and 11 conference wins were the program’s most since the 2013 season (39-21, 13-11 Pac-12). This year’s team is so good that it’s almost impossible not to break this record. So far, Stanford has won 91.7 percent of its games (22-24), losing only to defending champion Oklahoma (22-1, 0-0 Big 12) to gift No. 15 Duke a game. (21-5, 4-2 ACC). Senior pitcher Alanna Water posted impressive numbers with 9 wins (four shutouts) and just one loss. She is the queen of the circle for a reason. Wouter knows better than anyone how to mix up his pitches, making them difficult to read and throwing off the most elite batters.
An interesting idea is to have Kennedy and Water perform in the same game. Kennedy is particularly strong early in the match, and Water can step in when opponents start to get a feel for Kennedy’s serve. Time together can keep them fresh for back-to-back games in a series. It’s unusual to replace a pitcher who doesn’t allow a hit or a run. However, as a coach, you must read the game as it unfolds and account for the adjustments of the opposing batsmen. Maybe it’s time to switch cards and secure a shutout against the best teams. It wouldn’t surprise me if coaches are dancing around the idea later this spring.

One For The Ages
Junior Regan Krause, the team’s third starter, was nothing short of spectacular. Her record includes five wins (three shutouts) and one loss.
An underrated unsung hero is assistant coach Tori Nyberg ’03. She assembled perhaps the best pitching roster in the country. Like Allister, Nyberg had an impressive college career, ranking among the top 10 pitchers in program history before returning to her alma mater as a coach. They have even more in common as they were teammates from 2001-03. As a catcher, Allister had to rely on Nyberg more than anyone else on the team. She is also the head coach now. Life is full circle.
The dominance on the mound no doubt helped Stanford extend its hitting streak to 20 and its shutout streak to eight (15 overall). However, defense is not a one-man show, and no hit is rare. Every time Wouter, Kenady or Krause are in the circle, they know their teammates are on the court for them. This type of confidence booster takes a lot of pressure off the pitcher.

Cardinal has been quite effective so far. It all starts again with defense. You can’t get behind on the scoreboard if you don’t allow runs. This is a recipe for relaxation. And when you do, good things happen. Stanford finished with eight or more in a third of its games. The magic number for the W seems to be three points, and the Cardinal have crossed the line 92% of the time this season. The Pac-12 is very competitive, and those numbers will go down, but the big picture won’t change.
