2023 Nebraska Volleyball Schedule – We go down the last stretch and things get crazy on the volleyball court. After week 12, there are only two weeks left until the election. This past week we had two major tournaments with major implications for post-season picks and the current top 10. Louisville defeated Georgia Tech in a big five after falling behind in a GT environment in straight sets. Next, Ohio State and Nebraska meet again after the Huskers dropped the Buckeyes in five sets for their final finish this season, 13 games ago. Ohio State is currently winning with a fourth consecutive win over Nebraska.
The Longhorns had it easy last week, adding two sweeps in the opener. But they have that match with Baylor on November 1. 19. They dropped them in four sets earlier this season in Waco, but this will be the Longhorns’ toughest game to date.

I saw the Louisville vs. Georgia Tech last Friday. And wow, I’m in for a great game. It was a rocky start for the Cards as Julia Bergmann and the Yellow Jackets worked their way into a 2-0 lead in the game. It reminded me of when the Cards went up against Pitt before dropping it in five sets. Again, the Cardinals came out of third as a completely different team – Claire Chaussee went from a slow start to one of her best performances all season. He posted 27 kills while hitting over .300. Amaya Tillman also had a great night with Aiko Jones. Another important thing I noticed in this game – Anna DeBeer has been limited since her return, she only played outside the back row and only contributed on defense. But on Friday night, we saw him take some slashing from the back row, and he had three kills against UNC in the next game. He’s slowly coming back and he’ll make a big difference when he’s back to full strength.
I would like to see this team first, instead of returning to the game. In Dani Busboom-Kelly’s post game speech (after all the good talk about the comeback), he made it a point to say that they need time to come out of power and start strong…they can ‘climb back from behind’. This spot is a little high for the Cardinals right now, but I’ll keep it until there’s a reason to move it. And remember, the game against Pitt is this week. The Cards won’t hold this place for long unless they defeat the Panthers.

Dana Rettke Leads Wisconsin Badgers Past Nebraska For First Ncaa Women’s Volleyball Title
I have the same description for San Diego as last week. This place is a bit high and I don’t think the Toreros will be my fourth choice in my class at this point. But do they need a place in the top four for the competition? I think so — they really did everything they could with the schedule they had, and they’ve won some tough games this season. Their ONLY loss was to the Cardinals over them, and remember – Ohio State is getting better every week – a San Diego team swept this season.
The Badgers remain No. 4 as they extend their winning streak to 14 games in a row and go to 14-0 in their home games this season. The badgers, like the state of Ohio, seem to run at the right time of year. Get this – they have Penn State, Nebraska and Ohio State to close out the season. Welcome to the Big Ten.
Now for the Buckeyes! Ohio State missed Nebraska this week after dropping the Huskers to a four-set victory on Sunday. The win avenged their last loss this season to the Huskers – a five-set thriller – which came 13 games ago. They did so after a season-high performance by Emily Londot posting 23 kills on a .353 hit, adding 21 digs and four blocks. Gabby Gonzales herself scored 18 kills with 20 digs, and Jenaisya Moore added 12 kills. Mac Podraza put up a great game with 55 assists and 11 digs and the defense was even better, one of the best defenses in the country in Nebraska. The Buckeyes are on a roll right now and in my opinion this team is capable of winning a league title.

I didn’t really root for the Huskers, but turned them into OSU after the loss. Ally Batenhorst is looking very good since returning to the lineup and we see this team again against Purdue, Minnesota and Wisconsin – three times to add the highest wins to their start for the selections. Based on their success so far, I think No. 1 is a good spot. 6 for them. As I said before, you must love the Great One.
Pitt is ranked No. 7, although No. 7 is low for them as they had big wins over Louisville and Ohio State, but they also lost to Towson. This is an important week for the Panthers as they have another game against Louisville. A win is important for the championship.
The Cardinal is number 8 this week after the same result against Louisville. They managed a five-set victory over Southern Cal last week behind a game-high 24 kills from Kendall Kipp. They fought back from a 0-2 deficit as Kipp batted .413 that night, recording three aces, four digs and matching her season high with six blocks. I think the Trojans are a very strong team so this win is a good performance for the Cardinal and maybe a test they need for the championship.
Nebraska Volleyball Travels To Iowa
The Gophers sit comfortably at No. 1.9 for a few weeks. They have won their last four games, but have not played a championship opponent since the loss to Wisconsin. That’s because Penn State, Ohio State and Nebraska remain on the schedule in two weeks. I think this team has a lot to prove for the league and they will get their next chance.
Finally I’m holding Oregon at number 10 after moving them last week after a win over Washington. The Huskies just dropped a bad game in Arizona, which doesn’t help Oregon’s case, but I’m holding them right over Florida, which makes sense to me. The Gators have a big game with Kentucky this week, so the bottom of my rankings could change in a week.
We have put together a lot of good volleyball in recent weeks. Start, be good.
